Support
Two things account for almost every message we get, and both have a fix inside the app that is faster than waiting for a reply. Try these first.
The pause stopped appearing
Almost always the phone stopped Clipa in the background, or a permission was switched off. Clipa notices both.
Open Clipa and look at the top of the home screen. If anything is wrong there is a banner saying which thing, with a button that takes you to the setting that fixes it. That banner is the whole diagnosis — if it is not there, the problem is something else.
The two permissions Clipa cannot work without, and cannot grant itself:
- Usage access — how it notices which app you opened
- Draw over other apps — how the pause appears on top
Both live in Android’s settings and both can be revoked by the system after an update. On Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Samsung and OnePlus there is usually also a battery setting — autostart, or an unrestricted battery exemption — that stops the phone killing Clipa while it is not on screen. Without it the pause works for a while and then quietly stops, which is the version of this problem people find most confusing.
I paid, but it still says Free
Settings → Plan → Restore purchases. You need to be online, and signed into the same Google account that bought it.
Clipa creates no account of its own, so a purchase is tied to your Google account rather than to anything we hold. A new phone, a reinstall, or a reinstalled Play Store can all leave the app not yet knowing — restoring asks Google again and takes a second.
If it still says Free after that, write to us with your Google Play order number.
Cancelling
Subscriptions are managed by Google Play, so cancelling happens there — Play Store → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Clipa deliberately has no cancel button of its own. Google requires the cancellation to happen in Play, and an app that puts its own flow in front of that is doing something we would rather not. Settings → Plan → Manage in Google Play takes you straight there.
Cancelling leaves your access running until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Deleting your data
There is nothing to request. Settings → Erase all data removes everything Clipa holds, and uninstalling does the same, because none of it leaves your phone. The full detail is here, including the one case that involves us — a subscription record held by our payments provider.
Writing to us
If none of the above fits, clipaapp.contact@gmail.com.
A person answers. It is not a large company, so it may take a couple of days rather than a couple of hours — and it helps enormously if you say which phone you have, which Android version, and what you had expected to happen.
